Culture And Traditions Of Uluru & Kata Tjuta

Anangu Aboriginal people are responsible for the protection and appropriate management of ancestral lands Uluru and Kata Tjuta, which is important part of the Central Australian Landscape. The word Anangu which originally meant something along the lines of ‘person’ or ‘human beings’. But according to Europeans this would mean Aboriginal persons or human beings. It is the common work spoken in local language in central and west Australia.
The Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara people are the traditional owners of the land where Uluru and Kata Tjuta are located and commonly referred as Anangu. From around 20,000 to 40,000 years Anangu people are living near Uluru and Kata Tjuta. The laws and religions of Anangu people are closely related to them.
The term Tjukurpa is like a guiding light to Anangu and hot they live. It is about their law and religion, the past, present and future, their relationship with the land and how they are interrelated.
